A Simple System That Really Works

EVERY 2 MONTHS—on the second Saturday of every even month—our Neighborhood Coordinators pick up bags of healthy nonperishable food that neighbors have left outside their front doors. They leave empty green bags for next time, and take all the food to local Food Pantries. It’s that easy!

Fight Hunger in Your Own Backyard

Be a Food Donor

It takes: 15 minutes a month

Your role: Fill a green bag with nonperishable food every two months and put it outside your front door. That’s all there is to it!

Impact: One full green bag equals about ten meals. We combine your bag with your neighbors’ bags, and together we can feed the community!

Be a Neighborhood Coordinator

It takes: 1 hour a month

Your role: Pick up donors’ green bags every 2 months and take them to local food pantries.

Impact: Each donor’s contribution averages 43 meals a year. With just 10 donors, you’ll provide a meal to a hungry neighbor every 30 seconds you volunteer!

Join the Support Team

It takes: Whatever time you choose

Your role: We’ve got lots big and small jobs to do! Help with anything from unloading bags of food to making phone calls to helping with special projects.

Impact: In the Food Project, every job is essential. We’re an all-volunteer organization. We depend on people like you to keep us going.

Stats at a glance

The first Food Project was created by a small group of Ashland, Oregon residents in January 2009.

Clark Neighbors Food Project was started in July 2017 with 20 food donors in the Truman Neighborhood who gave 375 pounds of food to FISH of Vancouver.

Since our inception, we’ve grown to more than 2,000 food donors who give 20,000+ pounds of food every two months to 6 food pantries and 6 School Family Resource Centers throughout Clark County.

We have continued to grow (even during the pandemic)!

Just since April 2021, we have added 27 new neighborhoods and 600+ food donors.

We have 115 total neighborhoods that are donating food every two months.

Since our inception, we’ve collected more than 490,000 pounds, which translates to 406,700 meals.

Each donated green bag averages 12.5 pounds of food with a value of $20.75; and for every 100 pounds donated, it is 83 meals provided

There are currently 45 Food Projects in 11 states within the U.S., with the majority on the West Coast – Oregon (18), California (8) and Washington (5).
